Dan Finn Foundation Charity Gala
The Dan Finn Charity Gala will honor our own Felix Addeo, IAABO, Inc. Past President and Board 33 NJ, Interpreter Emeritus, on Thursday, October 4, 2018 @ 6 p.m.  In addition to Felix, Michael J. Kelly, Jersey City Police Chief, Joe Klecko, New York Jets, and Maryellen McLaughlin, McLaughlin Funeral Home, will also be honored.  The original mission of the Dan Finn Classic was twofold. First and foremost, the intention was to get the Finn Family out from under the tremendous financial burden that befell them following the tragic incident that took their son’s life. Secondly, at the request of the family, was the desire to perpetuate the good memory of Dan Finn.

Following the Dan Finn Classic of 2006, it became apparent that the Finn’s, while not completely in the clear, were no longer in crisis state as their bills became manageable. The focus thus concentrated on keeping Dan’s name alive, not just by naming a basketball event after him but helping others, as Dan always did, in charitable, humanitarian, and educational ways.

The DFC 2017 along with our Foundation Gala have afforded us the opportunity to offer tuition assistance grants to an additional 70 elementary and high school graduates bringing the total to date to close to 400 students sharing over $450,000.00 in scholarship and tuition assistance grant monies. Additionally, charitable and humanitarian causes, including the families of two fallen Jersey City police detectives, Marc DiNardo and Melvin Santiago, the Wounded Warriors campaign, the Jersey City Firefighters Distress Fund, the Bill DeFazio Scholarship Fund, St. Michael’s (Union City) Sports Assn., Superstorm Sandy relief through Shore 2 Recover, Boston Strong through the Charlestown Boys Club, and many other worthwhile projects.

It is anticipated that close to $80,000.00 will be spent in 2018 funding similar projects.

The scores of volunteers who help bring the DFC to fruition each year take pride in knowing that their efforts will continue our goal of helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

The event will be at held at the MaritimeParc located at 84 Audrey Zapp Drive, Jersey City, NJ  07305.  Tickets are $150.00 each and are tax deductible.  For ticket reservation and additional information, please visit – www.danfinnclassic.com

Game Tracker Journal
You have likely heard the saying, “a goal without a plan is just a wish,” and this age-old adage rings so true for all people pursuing all types of endeavors.
And for basketball officials embarking on the 2017-2018 season absent a basic strategy on how to achieve a stated desire -- a better schedule; advancement to the next level -- you are in a rudderless boat on an open sea hoping the winds of fate blow you to your destination.

Seeking officiating success described in this manner seems laughable, but yet many officials take this approach with their beloved avocation.

But Ref, don’t panic now...Help is on the way in the form of the new, and first of its kind, GameTracker Journal.

This latest publication from long time IAABO members Billy Martin, Tim Malloy and Al Battista, the creators of Ref60.com, is an innovative tool that provides a template for every basketball official, at every level, to create your own realistic roadmap helping to guide you to your desired destination - one game at a time.
